Damac Lagoons - Area Guide

The Damaac Lagoons district sits adjacent to Ras Al Khor Road and Dubai Festival City, providing easy access to both. This upscale area boasts a variety of outdoor activities, shopping, dining, and residential projects along the creekside and lush green landscapes. In the summer, the Lagoons are open until midnight. After sundown, it’s still light outside! During winter, you’ll have the option to enjoy the lagoons until dawn, which means more opportunity to see the Northern Lights. However, you should be prepared for a chilly swim and the possibility of rain or snow.

The process of creating these lagoons is completely natural and involves microscopic plants and animals. The algae and bacteria in the lagoons turn the water green, creating oxygen through photosynthetic processes. Bacteria release carbon dioxide and utilize it for growth. The breezes that blow across the surface of the lagoon also provide oxygen and break down wastes into gases. Small solids settle to the bottom of the lagoon. This is the primary reason why many people choose to build a home in this neighborhood.

When choosing a location for a lagoon, it is important to keep in mind that certain areas are more polluted than others. If this is the case, you should seek help from local health departments and the Natural Resources Conservation Service for guidance.
