Following its Marina Transport Master Plan 2020-2030, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority has recently launched two new marine transport lines in Dubai. These water lines will connect the city’s latest tourist destination and residential communities on the sea banks.
Bluewaters Island to Marina
One of these water transport lines will operate between Bluewaters Island and the Marina. The line will be functional all days of the week including weekends; and the timings will be from 16:50 to 23:25 on weekdays and from 16:10 to 23:45 on weekends.
The travellers can take boats from the existing ferry stop near Marina Mall and tickets can be purchased from the RTA kiosk.
The fare is set at AED5.
Dubai Creek Marina to Dubai Festival City
Another water line will connect residential areas at the Dubai Creek Marina with Dubai Festival City. This water transport option will remain functional on weekends from 16:00 to 23:55.
The fare for this route is fixed at AED2.
The master plan of the Maritime Transport Department aims to serve Dubai with continuous improvement in transportation facilities, improve the city’s goals in order to improve the well-being of the citizens.
RTA has been working closely with the public and tourist marine transport sector, intending to better serve the Dubai residents. The marine transport services consist of the Dubai Ferry, abras, and the water taxi on demand.
Last year, RTA announced to work on expanding the marine transport network by 188 per cent in order to serve 158 kilometers, and that the number of scheduled passenger lines will see a 400 per cent increase to 35 lines, under Dubai’s 2030 Strategic Plan.
“The move, which is part of the Marine Transport Master Plan 2020-2030, aims to serve residential communities and development projects with a sea view,” said an RTA representative.
The authority is already collaborating with the developers to connect “Marfa Market” on Deira Island with Dubai Creek through the ferry and heritage abras. The new line is scheduled to be fully operational within the first quarter of this year.
