Dubai propelling towards growth with new visa rules

Dubai Golden visa

By overhauling its entry and residency procedures, the UAE is making progress toward being the best location for employment, investment, entrepreneurship, education, and living. The UAE has created new visa regulations that expand the categories for Golden Visa Dubai and add additional entry visas and residency permits. This is due to a significant revamp of the visa system, which is expected to make the country more accessible. Expats will view the new visa regulations as a considerable improvement over the current framework.

Here, we examine the UAE visa reforms for 2022 and their implications for anyone who wants to relocate there.

Reasons Behind Attracting Expats

Due to the restrictions or being stranded distant from their home countries, several foreign nationals in the UAE lost their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, when the restrictions were lifted, many expats got the opportunity to leave the UAE and go back to their native countries. By creating new teams of people who will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the Gulf region, the UAE government hopes to draw highly qualified professionals to live and work there. The plan looks to be working as Dubai’s population of high-net-worth individuals increased by 18% in the first half of 2022.

In just 18 years from now, from its current population of 3.5 million, Dubai’s population will expand to 5.8 million, according to the Emirate of Dubai’s Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The protection of the emirate’s urban and cultural legacy and the development of comprehensive legislation and a planning governance model are additional goals.

The Revamped Visa Systems and New Options

There are 10 different types of entrance visas available under the new system. However, these visas are divided into three basic categories:

  • A Golden Residence Visa lasting 10 years
  • A Golden Residence Visa lasting 10 years
  • 60-day visit visas

UAE modifications to the Golden Visa Dubai for 2022

To simplify the eligibility requirements and increase the beneficiary categories, the UAE has recently extended the Golden Visa Dubaioptions and made significantly favourable changes to the Golden Residence Scheme.

Dubai Golden Visa

Investors, business owners, exceptional talent, scientists, recent graduates, students and skilled workers are all eligible for the long-term, 10-year Golden residency. Holders of Golden Residences will now be able to sponsor family members, regardless of the family members’ ages. Additionally, they are permitted to sponsor an unlimited number of domestic helpers. The grace period following the residence visa expiration or cancellation in the United Arab Emirates for expats has been increased from 30 days to 6 months for Golden visa holders and their family members, according to information retrieved on the ICP system by typing centre agents.

So, foreigners now have six months to change their status, get a new visa, or leave the country. During the grace period, there are no fines. The dependants, however, may be required to pay an overstay fine if the holder of a Golden visa Dubai neglects to cancel or renew the visa of his dependants.

Experienced experts

One of the largest modifications to the Golden Visa Dubai aims to draw in more qualified workers. Candidates must have an active UAE employment contract to be eligible. The job post must fall under one of the two occupational levels that the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has set forth. The minimal educational requirement is still a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. The needed minimum salary has dropped from to AED 30,000 per month.

Exceptional talents

People who fall under the category of exceptionally talented persons are qualified to apply for the Golden Visa Dubai.. These individuals may have abilities in the arts, digital technology, athletics, innovation, law, and various other sectors. Additionally, the 10-year Visa will only be issued based on the applicant’s talent. Your level of schooling, employment status, take-home money, or level of skill won’t have any bearing on it. However, the approval of a federal or local government entity will be required.

Investors in Dubai real estate

Dubai Golden Visa

Real estate investors who buy properties for sale in Dubai for at least AED 2M can qualify for the Golden Visa Dubai. However, due to the recent changes, investors can now get the Golden Residence when they get a loan from a certain regional bank to buy properties for sale in Dubai. Additionally, investors who purchase one or more off-plan properties from recognised local real estate firms for at least AED 2 million (USD 5,44,528) will be entitled to the residence.

Please note that the grace period after an expat’s residency visa expires or is revoked in the UAE has been increased from 90 days to 30 days, as notified by the ICP.

Scientists

Scientists will now be eligible for the Golden Visa Dubai if they fulfil the requirements listed below:

  • You must have a Master’s degree or PhD from one of the top universities in the world in technology, engineering, the life sciences, or the natural sciences.
  • You must have a recommendation from the Emirates Scientists Council to be eligible for this visa.

UAE modifications to green visas for 2022

With a green visa, you can live in the UAE for five years without the support of a sponsor or employment. For five years, the holder may also bring their family members. The original home holder could only sponsor family members for an average of two years under the current arrangement. Skilled employees, independent contractors, and self-employed people can apply for green visas. You can buy one if you’re trying to invest in the UAE.

The conditions are:

  • Possessing a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant discipline as a minimum educational requirement
  • A salary of at least AED 15,000
  • The green visa has been revised for investors as the UAE seeks to increase international investment.
  • A five-year residency is granted if the prerequisites are completed. The current arrangement stipulates two years.

Changes to UAE visitor visas for 2022

The UAE Residence Visa

The new visa modifications took effect on October 3, 2022, according to the FAICCP Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. There will also be additional visa kinds to offer greater flexibility.

Visitors visiting the UAE were formerly permitted to stay for 30 days. This has been extended to 60 days under the current arrangement. The new design wants to give customers additional choices.

Job Exploration Entry visa

There will also be a visa for job exploration available. This visa intends to draw young, talented persons and qualified workers. They will have the opportunity to visit the UAE and explore the labour market. This amended visa appeals to job seekers because it does not require a sponsor or host. The exploration visa is also available for those interested in researching potential investment opportunities with property agents in Dubai. Once more, this is a form of visa that can be obtained without a sponsor or host.

Multiple-entry Tourist Visa

Under the current system, there is already a standard tourist visa. A five-year multiple-entry tourist visa will also be offered to start in October 2022. For this visa, you must have at least $4,000 in your bank account for six months before you submit your application. Please note that the balance may not need to be in dollars. This also doesn’t need a sponsor, unlike the visas previously indicated. You can stay in the UAE for 90 days if your application is approved. It is possible to extend your stay, provided you do not exceed three months.

Sponsorship from family

Families with visa holders will gain more from the new system. Up until the age of 25, parents can sponsor a male child. Children with disabilities now acquire a residence permit regardless of age. Parents can sponsor their unmarried daughters at any age and for as long as they like.
